“A 7 inch tablet for $99 is possible,” is what the page for Archos’ new Arnova tablet reads. That’s great that it’s possible and all, but is it any good?
The Arnova has had to cut down in terms of typical Android tablet specs- It’ll be running Android 2.2 Froyo and won’t have access to the Android Market, only the AppsLib store. The 7-inch display only has 800 x 480 resolution and Wifi capabilities. It looks like there’s no camera, built-in GPS, or basically any other extras.
Don’t ge me wrong, it’ll be great for many that they’ve gone all out in budget-friendliness. But, while I understand it’s dirt cheap, I just personally think saving a bit more makes an incredible difference in the tablet world. I guess the best way to sum it up is that you really do get what you pay for in this instance.
